Small but Essential Things to do When You Quit Smoking

If you want to use hypnosis to quit smoking, you will have to be self aware and ready. Since this won t be a pretty journey, and you might regret the decision after only a couple of days, you will need all the possible support you can get.

Because quitting is never pretty, regardless of the drug we are talking about, you will need people that can support you. Since smoking is hard to forget, make sure there are persons that can offer you the support you need when you start your stop smoking treatment. And on top of this, you must try and find different non-smoking related activities you can fill up your time with. Below are a few suggestions that are meant to help people who are quitting:

- Make sure you tell everyone you know that you are stopping. If the persons close to you offer you support, any fight will seem easier. All the people around you should be aware that you are passing through rough times and you need to be understood.

- Make a long list with all the reasons that lead you to this decision. Then, whenever you are tempted to light a cigarette, look for the list and read it carefully. At times, you can add there any other things you find useful.

- Throw away everything that is related to smoking. If your loved ones smoke, you will have to ask them not to smoke around you for a while.

- People are afraid that they will get fat after they quit smoking. In fact, eating is just a way of replacing the smoking habit. Instead of regular snacks, try eating a fruit diet like oranges and apples or bananas. Also, try to eat healthily during the first few months, even if you are not overweight, because you risk gaining some pounds in this period.

- You might experience an increased need of caffeine at first. It’s best to give up coffee as well or at least to avoid general anxiety states provoked by caffeine.

- Try to sleep more than you usually do, your body needs to recover.

- If you can, buy something for yourself every day in exchange of the cigarette pack you’ve given up. When you quit smoking you deserve as many gifts as you can afford.

- Smoking once in a while when you feel you can’t restrain anymore doesn’t mean you have to start again to stop smoking remedies. Just one cigarette does not lose you the whole war.

- Do some exercises or sign up for sports classes so you can re-tonify your body.
