Cigarettes Are Bad For You And People Around You
Friday, February 5th, 2010It’s no surprise to any one of us that smoking is damaging to our health. And those health hazards apply to not simply the smoker, but also any bystanders that could be near the smoker through used smoke effects. Because of the damaging effects of second hand smoke, lately laws were passed banning smoking in public areas.
Smoking is one of the leading causes of death through illnesses such as lung cancer, heart attack and stroke. Smoking also causes a number of other cosmetic issues, such as teeth yellowing, epidermal discoloration, accelerated aging and hair loss. If these effects were exclusive to the smoker, there may not have been so much support to enact the new laws banning smoking in public places. But as the smoke is indiscriminate and can have the same effects on any one close to the smoker, the new laws were passed banning smoking in public places to protect the innocent bystanders in those public places.
Research has demonstrated that the tobacco leaf itself contains about 1,000 different chemicals, but the burning end of a cigarette is an incredible chemical factory that produces thousands of new chemicals. Tobacco smoke is known to carry more than 4,000 different chemical compounds, most of which are thought to be toxic to the human body.
Medical research has proven that frequent exposure to second-hand smoke may cause a number of health issues and illnesses, such as bronchitis and pneumonia. Used smoke not only damages the lungs and skin, but it also has been shown to affect the brain, heart, and bones and even result in a number of different cancers. If a smoker lights up at home, their family is then exposed to the second-hand smoke and is equally at the mercy of all of its deleterious effects. Accordingly, laws extra to those banning smoking in public places, have also been enacted preventing tobacco product corporations from advertising on TV, radio and in several magazines in the hopes that this will help inspire users to stop smoking all together.
Fortunately for smokers, modern technology has supplied a more fit alternative option to traditional cigarette smoking, and that is the electronic cigarette. Electronic cigarettes provide the user with the nicotine dose they covet and it does it without producing real smoke. Hence, users and onlookers are now not at risk of the dangerous aftermath of real smoke. Additionally, electronic cigarettes are not hit with the tobacco taxes that standard cigarettes are, so they can be {less expensive|cheaper}. And because they aren’t officially smoking, electronic cigarettes sometimes aren’t restricted by the laws banning smoking in public places.
clearly, for any smoker that’s worried about the damaging effects their Marlboro smoke is causing themselves and their family, the advantages of electronic cigarettes are hard to deny.
