Quit Smoking Programs

Monday, March 1st, 2010

If a person wants to quit smoking, there are several programs that can help.  From joining a group to medication and hypnosis.  The whole point is to live a healthier and longer life by overcoming the smoking habit.

People are always talking about the pollutants that automobiles and factories put into our air.

But when it comes to smoking, very few of those same people ever give it a second thought.

The fact is that second hand smoke is toxic.

If a person doesn’t want to quit for themselves, they should look at those they care about and ask themselves some serious questions.

There are so many ways to quit smoking, and because there are so many, they cover a variety of ways to even customize a smoker’s plan to successfully overcoming the habit.  It is important to note a few things about oneself before starting a program whether it’s an individual plan or group plan.

Again, the point is to find a program and go for it.Make decision that you need a change and try to stick with it no matter what.  Yes, it sounds easier than it is, but studies show that people succeed at reaching their goals when they make a decision to do so.  There’s something in the subconscious that drives a person to succeed even if that person isn’t necessarily a “go getter”, they still want to achieve.First decide you want to quit smoking, then live without a cigarette and imagine yourself smoke free, then believe you can do it.

You can get a partner or loved one to help keep you accountable, you can join a group of others just like you trying to overcome the habit, you can even join online programs.  Just do something.

Smoking is a terrible habit that can claim your life if you let it control you.  Make a decision today to quit, then find your motivation, then stay focused.  A very wise man once said to not look back but forward.  Keep your eyes on the prize and you will gain victory.

Some Simple Tips to Quit Smoking

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Sometimes when overcoming something, we need some kind of motivation.  It has to hurt more to continue the habit than it does to feel good while doing the habit.  To quit smoking, there should be some sort of motivation to do so.

It’s unfortunate that the medical issues alone aren’t a motivation.  I’ve seen people walking around with an oxygen tank and still sucking away on a cigarette. It’s so very sad to see people are completely controlled by the smoking habit that there simply appears no way out.  This is deception and it can be overcome, but first things first, you have to want to quit.

So here are some quit smoking tips that will hopefully help a person go beyond wanting to quit and move on to quitting. Once you’ve taken the first step which is simply deciding that you really want to quit smoking for good, it’s time to find a strong motivation. Find something that brings you pleasure when you’re not smoking and make that a focus. Just like an overweight person is motivated to reward themselves with a new pair of shirts or pants in the new size they’ve achieved, find something that you really want to have and encourage yourself wait until you reach your first goal in your quit smoking journey.

Find a friend or family member to keep you accountable.  This works in almost any area a person may be struggling. Whether you have bad lifestyle that you’re trying to overcome, or bad eating or lack of exercising routines that you’d like to change for the better. Having someone help keep you accountable and remind you of the things you said you wanted to do can be of huge assistance.

Of course there’s also finding a program that can help you quit smoking. Whether it’s seeing a doctor for a medical answer to the problem or and online program, it is important to find one that fits you and your personality. A more introverted person may not respond well in a group program while a more social person will probably thrive. Other useful tips include adjusting the way you talk.  Change the I can’t to I can.

Think and concentrate on what you want to achieve and set timetable to achieve it. Very few people quit smoking over night.  Just get yourself started and continue in the walk toward better health and a better lifestyle. Once you begin to live life without a cigarette, the pleasure that you get from the extra money in your pocket to breathing deeper will eventually overcome the short burst you ever got from that stinky ole cigarette.

Stop Smoking Effects – Know What’s Coming

Monday, November 30th, 2009

If you stop smoking you can expect several effects from making such a powerful change. Unfortunately, a few of these side effects will be fairly unpleasant, especially at first. Eventually the benefits will be more than worth it, but you might have a few challenges getting there.

It’s easy to get through the tough spots if you know they’re coming. Here are some of the more common quit smoking effects you can expect.

One of the first effects you run into has to do with nicotine. There are too many things that a more addicting than nicotine. When you stop taking it in, you will notice definite effects. Most commonly people become irritable and edgy and experience a strong desire for a smoke.

Nicotine substitutes
, such as gum or  patch , can help minimize the discomfort of nicotine withdrawal. Though nicotine itself isn’t very good for you, getting nicotine in some gum is a whole lot better for you than inhaling smoke to get your nicotine fix.

Once you’ve given up cigarettes, you can work on clearing the nicotine from your system.

Weight gain is another side effect you [should be aware of. The problem is actually a severe as some people made it out to be. Even if they don’t make any diet or exercise changes, most smokers only gain 5 to 10 pounds when they quit. You can avoid gaining even that much if you pay live attention to it. A great place to find out how you can avoid gaining any weight entirely is: Quit Smoking Weight Gain

Quitting smoking can also affect your social life. When you are going through the process of quitting it helps if you can avoid situations where you be tempted to smoke. Since for many smokers this includes bars and nightclubs, quitting smoking can greatly affect where you spend your free time.

Also, you may need to see some of your friends less frequently for a while. Your non-smoking friends will be very helpful when you quit, but your friends who smoke may have a different reaction. Some of them may feel somehow betrayed when you  stop smoking  and might try to sabotage your efforts, whether consciously or unconsciously. They might do that by offering you a cigarette, or saying something like "just one won’t hurt", or even by simply making a point of smoking when you’re around.

Someone who sabotages your attempt to make a positive change isn’t the best of friends. One side effect of quitting smoking may be finding out who your real friends are.

These only some of the situations you might run into. You can discover more at: Quit Smoking Effects

You should know that you can stop smoking more easily these days than ever before. The reason is because so much attention has been paid to the importance of helping people get free of cigarettes.

One of the most effective ones I’ve come across is Quit Smoking Right Now.

You can read a full review of this remarkable stop smoking system at: Quit Smoking Right Now Review

The review looks at the program in some detail, but the bottom line is that it has over a 90% success rate. The publishers have so much confidence in it that they offer a 100%, ironclad money-back guarantee. That means there’s absolutely no risk in trying.

So check out that review and see what this program can do for you. I wish you a smoke-free future.

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Anybody is eligible to receive prescription medicine at a discounted price regardless of their salary, age or pre-existing conditions. There is a novel medication discount card open to any person that requests it, and it is free of charge!

For too long, people with no medical insurance have been paying full retail prices for their medication but with this new plan they will now have somebody on their side. Prescription Assistance Programs have been around for many years.

Rx Help started the plan to drive down the cost of medicines to those persons without insurance. This has developed into a nationwide plan with cardholders in the entire 50 states. These prescription drug discount cards are accepted at over 50,000 local and national pharmacies.

Some non-profit organizations and clinics give out the cards as a way to fill a need and help their community throughout tough times. The discount cards have been mailed to neighborhood United Way agencies, clinics, doctor offices and pharmacies in addition to neighborhood community health centers. These cards are not health insurance, but they can bring down the price of your medications by up to 70 percent or more. The person merely presents their card to the pharmacy and they are sure that they will pay either the negotiated price or the pharmacy’s retail charge, whichever is lesser.

There are people that are saving $10 -$30 on prescription medication and that is money they can spend to buy groceries, pay rent or pay the gas bill. They are also able to receive the prescription medicine they urgently need. The cards are available at no cost to any person and there is no maximum on how often they can be used.

An added approach that Rx Help is able to assist uninsured persons is through Prescription Assistance Programs. These programs are operated by all pharmaceutical company and every one is a little different. If a patient qualifies however, they will receive their medication at no charge. To meet the requirements you need to be without healthcare insurance and your household earnings must not go beyond specified guidelines.

There is a enormous need for prescription medication help right now, specially given that a bunch of people continue to lose their jobs. A lot of patients want help at present more than ever.

To Quit Easily: Try Cleansing

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

It’s well known that smoking cigarettes leads to untimely disease, and is at the root of many life threatening illnesses.

Unfortunately, what most people don’t know is how to quit smoking

Quit for health Now! Learn How here

Trying to quit, often brings difficult cravings, and for many people, those cravings bring them right back to cigarettes. But, there is an easy way to eliminate the cravings and it has nothing to do with commonly talked about pills or patches

The way to remove those cigarette cravings is simply to remove the addictive chemicals you’ve put in your body by smoking, with deep body cleansing.

Deep body cleansing often includes colon and liver cleansing and it can quickly remove massive amounts of those chemical toxins from your body. With those chemicals out of your body, your cravings will often disappear as well; this makes quitting much easier.

By drinking fresh fruit and vegetable juices can flush those chemical toxins right from your body, and aid in the detoxification process.

One way to use fresh juices to quit is to consume a fresh juice instead of a cigarette, every time the craving comes up. The flood of nutrition from fresh squeezed juices will often quickly eliminate those cravings, and get you back in control. Fresh juices can be used in this manner to quit smoking until all of your cravings are gone.

Although doing a body cleanse is new for many people, various forms of it have been around for centuries. In the Essene Gospel Of Peace, Christ was recorded giving enema instructions and even talked about problems that occur in the body without deep cleansing. Due to the considerable toxins that are present in cigarettes, one can only assume that these poisons greatly speed the disease process and dramatically increase the need for deep body cleansing. Fortunately cleansing can help you quit to stop putting all of those chemicals in your body on a regular basis and remove the ones you’ve already added.

Quitting Smoking Benefits You In Lots Of Ways

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Some people often wonder what the quit smoking benefits are. They have got so used to smoking themselves that they no longer remember what life was like without cigarettes.

Quit for health Now!

The many benefits to stopping smoking are discussed in this article.

One of the most noticeable quitting smoking benefits is that your sense of smell and taste comes back. Once you are a smoker, you will notice that you some sense of smell and taste have diminished because of the cigarettes. When you stop smoking one of the first things that comes back is the sense of smell and taste.

This is one of the biggest quitting benefits and many new non-smokers are amazed by how good food tastes now they have stopped smoking. When you get your sense of smell back again you will be surprised how bad cigarettes really smell.

The upside of course, is that you can enjoy a whole new range of olfactory pleasures. When I have treated clients to help them stop smoking, this new found pleasure in taste and smell has been described as perhaps one of the best quitting smoking benefits.

Another benefit is that you are no longer spending lots of your money on cigarettes and smoking. Effectively, you have stopped burning money. Many smokers use the extra money to pay off debt or treat themselves.

Some smokers who are struggling financially find it may have stopped or lessened their financial struggles significantly. A heavy smoker can burn through $10, $20 and often more in a day without even thinking about it. Over a year, this adds up to a significant sum of money, which can make a difference in your life.

And let’s not forget that health is amongst the many benefits. Worries about the health effects of smoking cause many smokers to stop. I don’t need to tell you about the health risks, as I’m sure you are well aware of them, but once you’ve quit smoking then you can start to enjoy health as a major benefit.

There are, of course, other quitting smoking benefits such as an increase in fertility. Male smokers can damage their sperm quality through smoking. Also, for men, smoking can cause impotence. Females smokers find it takes longer for them to concieve and it can increase their risk of miscarriage.

When you stop smoking, you will find that your appearance begins to change as your skin regains some of its usefulness. Smoking causes wrinkles and dries out the skin. This improvement in appearance is cited by many smokers, particularly females, as one of the big stop smoking benefits.

There are many benefits to giving up smoking. These are just some of the few that you will experience. When you stop smoking both you and the people around you will see a big increase in health.Passive smoking is almost as dangerous as smoking itself. To the people around you not having to passive smoke is a major no smoking benefit for them.

Sure Fire Way to Quit Cigarettes and Quit Smoking For Good – Best Natural Ways to Stop Smoking

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

When I consider the  health benefits of quitting smoking I do not even know where to start. They are so many but I will try going through most of them in the paragraphs that follow. When you are a smoker you know you have been cutting down on your life expectancy. You started cutting down on it the minute you smoked your first cigarette.

Quit Smoking: Help!

Put things into perspective

To start with, you have to put everything in proper perspective. You need to analyze the situation seriously. So, sit down somewhere and write down the situations where you like to smoke best. I am sure you know these situations very well because usually these are the same for most people. It is usually when you are having a good time with friends or colleagues or when you are stressed out. Once you identify those situations, you need to think of a solution for how you want to deal with that situation. Try to remove or avoid everything that reminds you of smoking.

Next, as a way to quit smoking, think about and decide the day you will start your smoking cessation program. It can be immediately or after some time when a more favorable or important moment comes. A word of warning, don’t use this as an excuse to procrastinate.

Let people know that you are going to quit

Give them the impression that you are taking this as a challenge. Then take it as a challenge. The social admiration might possibly be the reason for never going back to smoking.

When you smoke you put yourself at the risk of falling sick from disease that you would never have had to worry about as a non smoker. Many diseases can be traced back to the effects of smoking. Like lung cancer, and all these other respiratory illnesses. So some of the health benefits of quitting smoking is you never have to worry about these illnesses.

Smokers reduce their chances of recovery from other illnesses too. It takes them a longer time to recover than a person who doesn’t smoke. It may not be health related but its worth mentioning. Smoking is an expensive habit. As it becomes more addictive you begin to spend more money on it. So that’s another reason why should stop.

One of the biggest problems that you will face after you decide to quit smoking is what the professionals call withdrawal symptoms. You will get strong desire to smoke. You need to be strong against that desire. Don’t worry, this desire will not stay forever, it will go after a while. Try to distract yourself with something interesting while it lasts.

Time For Some Stop Smoking Help

Friday, August 21st, 2009

There are many products on the market today claiming to help stop smoking. But are they effective?

> Nicotine patches   > Nicotine Gum

The nicotine replacement patches have been proven to provide some assistance with stopping smoking. Despite their cost, their effectiveness has been proven to reduce the need for nicotine safely.

If you are interested in the nasal sprays and nicotine inhalers then you should research their effects first. Both are available by prescription. Not everyone likes to use a nasal spray. Those who are seeking to help stop smoking by nasal application will need to be allergy and asthma free, as these conditions affect the delivery of the nicotine in the nasal passage. By delivering the nicotine directly to the lungs, the nicotine inhaler ensures it gets to the bloodstream quicker.

Perhaps the medications that claim to aid in quitting are the way for you to become an ex smoker. Some drugs, originally meant for treating depression, have shown some promise in helping you to stop smoking. These same drugs produce the same action as nicotine on the brain by increasing certain chemicals, making us feel good and helping us to focus. Also, these medications can lessen the withdrawal symptoms, giving you the edge you need to overcome this serious addiction.

Something a bit newer on the scene to help stop smoking is Nicotine Anonymous. Following the same 12 step plan as Alcohol Anonymous, these groups are popping up all over the country and on online. Inspite of the fact it is difficult to stop smoking, these groups persevere and remain free from tobacco. They are happy to introduce new members to the twelve step program, and encourage that the new member have sponsorship. They promote education and make people aware of all the risks and consequences assocaited with smoking. Members believe that in order to stay away from nicotine they need to keep themselves as emotionally and physically healthy as they can.

There is a religious undertone to these help stop smoking groups. If you are comfortable with a higher power then you will probably be open to the steps and expectations of the group. Some groups do frown on using any sort of aid to quit smoking, while other groups do not. The program is free and provides a very good support system. If you have been on any other twelve step programs then you are likely to do well with this one. This may be the method for you if you are in tune with your spirituality, or wish to be more in tune!

Other effective methods include:

EFT which is 90% effective with smoking addictions

Hypnosis to quit smoking also has a good track record

Successful Ways To Quit Smoking

Monday, August 10th, 2009

If you’re someone who smokes and who has tried to quit in the past maybe several times over chances are you may be ready to just scream at the top of your lungs, Will someone please tell me how to quit smoking! If thats you then what is the best smoking quit tips advice.

So how do you do it, though? How do you successfully quit smoking? Advice on how to be a successful non-smoker abounds, from friends and family, to coworkers, even strangers on the street seem to want to share what worked for them when it was their time to quit smoking. Help is readily available to anyone that’s trying to quit smoking. Of course, some still try to go cold turkey and simply stop, but this may be ineffective and very difficult.

It’s important not to get overwhelmed by your many options when it comes to ways to quit smoking, and to choose one and move forward with your decision. There is not usually a right or wrong decision to make, simply a decision that must have follow through.

It’s also good to remember that there are many ways to quit smoking. If you’re one that wants to go it cold turkey and just simply quit, you need to remember a few things to help you along the way. For one, be mindful of your diet. You ll get cravings to eat something, and if you fill up on sugary treats and fried foods, this will just make your stomach upset and queasy, and when you feel bad, you ll want to reach for a cigarette.

Breaking a habit typically means changing all the circumstances that lead up to your engaging in that habit. If it’s your habit to stay on the computer until far too late at night, you need to move the computer someplace where you can’t easily keep it on that late, such as the family room, or where it s uncomfortable for you to do that, such as the hard dining room table and chairs. This is one of the most important steps you can take in learning how to quit smoking. You need to change all the circumstances that lead up to your urge to smoke, such as walking away from the dinner table after eating rather than lingering, avoiding smoky bars and nightclubs, and maybe even cutting back on those nights out with friends when they’re smoking.

Obviously there are no easy answers to the question of how to stop smoking. For each person, their addiction is different as is their willpower and resolve. The years they ve smoked, the amount of support they’re getting or not getting, what peer pressure they have around them, all of these things will affect an individual’s situation and ability to quit quickly and easily, or not.

So if you’re someone who has made the determination to quit smoking for life, don’t despair. There is help available, and if you’re ready to accept that help, then you too can be one of the successful people who can rightly call themselves a non-smoker.

Quit Smoking Naturally

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Owing to the rising apprehension about introducing synthetic drugs in the body, many people are looking at ways to stop smoking naturally. The following are some of these natural methods that are commonly used to convert smokers to non-smokers.

Herbal Methods

Many herbal formulations are used for helping people overcome the smoking habit. The most popular of these herbs is lobelia. Lobelia is a replacement for nicotine. It has almost the same taste with none of the harm associated with nicotine. Hence, people who are addicted to cigarettes with nicotine could be switched over to smoke cigarettes containing lobelia. Such alternative options can be provided by herbal medicine.

The advantages of the herbal stop smoking methods is that they do not have any side effects on the body and are much cheaper than other available holistic alternatives.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has a long-standing reputation in helping people to overcome their smoking problems. This is more than just a natural method of sticking some random pins into the body. The acupuncture pins are stuck at some focused points on the body, which are meant to release substances known as endorphins. These endorphins have specific responses on the body. They act as natural pain relievers. When a person is trying to stop smoking, the endorphins released through acupuncture could be highly significant in mitigating the painful withdrawals that might occur. This helps the person to live smoke-free without much risk.

Behavioral Therapy

Smoking is largely a vice that is carried on through a patterned behavioral modification. A person might take up smoking after meals or having a smoke when retiring to bed and so on. This becomes a habit. Even if the person does not consciously want a cigarette at this time, the subconscious mind will insist them to have it because of the patterns that have been created. Behavior therapy helps in removing such patterns and hence taking people away from the smoking habit.

Motivational Therapy

Motivational therapy is one of the popular methods to stop smoking naturally. This is largely a counseling method in which a person is made to quit smoking by making them focus on the positives of giving up the habit. For example, this form of therapy could motivate a smoker to calculate how much they spend on cigarettes per month. They are told that they would save this amount for something else if they lived healthy. This is how motivational therapy works. However, the results of this therapy can differ from one individual to another.

Self Hypnosis

Today, hypnosis is being used very prominently in helping people to quit smoking. If these people have already made a determination to kick the butt, self hypnosis can help them greatly. The people will be put into a relax, focus state which several suggestions will be made to them to quit smoking. This information gets recorded in their subconscious mind afterwhich the person will actually develop aversion to cigarettes.

Self hypnosis can also help people overcome their painful withdrawal symptoms as they are giving up smoking. This helps them really stay true to their resolve of quitting smoking. This makes hypnosis a very effective method to stop smoking naturally, which does not have any side effects and is a comparatively cheap method to use.

How To Quit Smoking Cigarettes And Not Go Back To Them Ever Again

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

You have tried and tried and tried, but have never managed to get past the first couple of weeks. Nobody ever said it was going to be easy, but trying to learn how to stop smoking cigarettes is becoming a full time occupation. There has to be a better way that will actually work.

You have to take a look at why you are not being successful. Is it your friends offering you smokes? Are you hanging out at places that you used to smoke a lot at? Are you not getting any support from your family? Initially you may not even be looking at these things, but answering yes to any of these can result in a failed attempt to stop smoking.

Your friends are meant to be there to help you out, not hinder your efforts. If they are still smoking, that’s fine, but they have to respect your decision to quit cigarettes. Be up front with them and tell them that you don’t want to deal with the peer pressure of the constant offering of cigarettes. In fact, if you ask them for some, they need to tell you no.

You need to take a good look at where you are spending your free time. If you find that you are successful until you go out on Friday nights, maybe it is time to chill for a couple of weeks until you get over the hump. You are just setting yourself up for failure by entering into that environment.

Finally, get your family behind you. Let everyone know the decision that you have made and that you are going to need their support. This may involve tolerating some tantrums from you or you listening to some harsh criticism, but in the end you will be happy that they stood their ground.

Stop Smoking Treatments, Which To Choose

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

It is a well recognised fact that smoking is a health hazard, not only for the smoker him or herself but for those in close proximity too. It is no wonder that there are so many efforts and programs aimed at smoking cessation today.

Smoking jeopardizes health that’s no secret, but smokers still find it hard to give up. There are so many  programs to help you stop smoking that it can make it confusing to decide exactly which one will work for you. A program which can be best adopted according to his or her individual requirements is the one which a smoker looks for.

I have recently been trying out a hypnosis program from hypnosisdirect.com that is called   quit smoking forever and can highly recommend it. It comes with a 90 day guarantee as well so you can’t really go wrong.

Because not everyone is sensitive to the powers of suggestion that hypnosis utilizes, not all smokers can use it to help them quit. There are lots of benefits to hypnosis, which has the approval of the medical community, is natural and free of drugs or medications, and doesn’t use tobacco in the process of quitting. In order to provide the best chances for success, many programs that use hypnosis require participants to return for multiple sessions.

In fact to quit smoking is not an easy task, you may want to give some thought to the  quit smoking medications that are available to help you lose that desire to smoke. A prescription is needed for anti-smoking medications and they do sometimes have side effects. Remember though that to continue to smoke may be much worse than the cost or the side effects of the medications.

Herbal remedies are used by some people as an aid to stop smoking. Then again, different herbs have different effects on different people; therefore each smoker may go through several herbs or herb combinations before finding the ones that work best. A nicotine-like herb, lobelia, may help wean smokers like a patch can. However, lobelia won’t work for everyone so each smoker has to find out what is best for him.

Some  smoking cessation methods involve acupuncture. One such method makes use of thin needles to get the body’s energy channels stimulated. This is designed to curb your nicotine cravings. An alternate system involves implanting a surgical staple into your ear, which will not be removed until you feel you have successfully kicked the habit for good.

If you want to be successful in your efforts to quit, it’s vital that you choose a program that also offers counseling and psychological support along the way. No system is the same, and some offer more support than others. Your physical dependence on nicotine will disappear in a matter of days, but your psychological addiction will linger for much more time, making counseling very important.

Everyone knows smoking places health at risk, but that doesn’t make it any easier for many smokers to stop. Because of the numerous stop smoking programs out there, smokers cannot always figure out which program will work best for them.

Every smoker needs the  quit-smoking program that is effective for him. Two options available to smokers to assist them with giving up the habit is  hypnosis and herbal remedies. There are a variety of herbs and herb mixtures that can help people quit. An alternative to nicotine patches is the herb lobelia which has similar effects to nicotine on a smoker.
