Valuable Quit Smoking Tips For A Smoker

Monday, March 1st, 2010

In January almost every smoker makes a New Year’s resolution to quit smoking.  It seems that only a small few are actually able to stop smoking.  With the following smoking quit tips hopefully more of them will be able to be smoke free.

Number one on the quit smoking tips agenda would be to see your physician.  Let him give you a complete check-up.  When you have been smoke free for several months get another physical check-up.  You probably already feel better but you will see actual results with the doctor’s tests.  This should make you want to achieve your final objective to remain smoke free the rest of your life.

Set a goal.  Do you want to quit “cold turkey” or taper off slowly?  Current data shows that quitting cold turkey has the best results.  Your physician may also be able to offer you some tips and possibly a prescription for a nicotine alternative.  Be prepared for the various side affects that some of these medications can cause.

Make a dental appointment.  See that they clean and buff your ivories.  Dental visits are not cheap which should give you the incentive to prevent future nicotine stains on your teeth.

Fresh breath is another bonus that comes with not smoking.

Next on the  tips list is to recognize and realize that during this nicotine withdrawal period you may experience different emotional feelings.  Feelings of depression and moodiness are not unusual and are actually quite normal.  There is some comfort in knowing what to expect. Those closest to you want you to be successful and will be there for you if you do suffer some low days.
